An ergonomic loft: how to furnish it?

And this is what a young Polish lawyer's home looks like. The tanhaus is located in Sopot and features a beautiful 36sqm loft area. For a long time, this area had not been used until the owner asked Raca Architekci to convert the attic into a bedroom. The renovation began with a change in the geometry of the roof to provide more space in the new room. Natural wood was used for the ceiling design, which is the predominant element in the interior. Like the floor, the ceiling is covered entirely in multi-layered oak planks.

Into the interior the designers have added restrained modern furniture in black and grey shades. In a separate niche, there is a reading nook with a comfortable chair and dark grey bookshelves. Another niche is the work area with a simple black veneered desk.

Because of the geometry of the roof, a standard cupboard could not be used. So the architects decided to make a built-in cupboard on the back wall opposite the entrance. The doors are characterised by a glossy dark grey lacquered finish, which, on the one hand, provides a great contrast to the wood, but on the other hand, thanks to the reflective surface, also gives the required optical effect and enlarges the space. This is complemented by a removable full-length mirror.

Between the cabinets is a black KUBIC bed from the Italian manufacturer Désirée. The model was designed by Roberto Gobbo in 2002 and has decorated many minimalist interiors since then. Kubic is characterised by its simple geometric shapes and low, wide headboard. The frame is made of metal and wood, with black polypropylene legs cleverly concealed. The leather upholstery is fully removable, which makes the model not only stylish but also practical.
