Ethnic motifs in Sigma L2 collections
May 5, 2017
Sigma L2 is a company whose stand at iSaloni is sought after by everyone who is passionate about design, lighting and interiors in general. The brand's products are more than just lighting fixtures, but certainly an art object behind which lies the talent, passion and infinite thirst for perfection of the Florentine craftsmen.
The artistic design vision of Sigma L2 is strikingly different from that of other factories in the lighting sector and the recognisable style of Sigma L2 is unmistakable anywhere in the world. Their interior masterpieces are always stunning and tell amazing stories.
The leitmotif of this year's collections is the ethnic theme around which the exhibition unfolds. The African style, which has become the main trend of the 2016 season, not only does not give way, but is experiencing a second birth and is embodied in the products of leading interior manufacturers such as Sigma L2. The brand's African-inspired display looks distinctive, dynamic and colourful. All shades of sand, earth, fire and jungle, i.e. gold, ochre, terracotta, brick, red, rich brown and deep green, are at the core. Light, emanating from numerous Sigma L2 luminaires, is generously diffused throughout the "rooms", refracted and played in the author's mirrors, and fills the entire space, recalling the merciless sun of Africa.
Numerous accessories, such as ritual figurines, African shamanic masks and floor vases, support the theme. The minimalist lines are combined with rough textures and geometric ornamentation. There is also a sense of irony: the brand's chandeliers mimic a dinosaur egg, while others are simply 'fashioned' from banana bunches. "We are driven by passion, this constant beating of the heart, which will not cease to be interested in life and open up new horizons," comment on their artistic quest, the owners of the company.
As with all of the company's art objects, the pieces on display are made only by hand and exclusively from natural materials, including copper and bronze, brass, majolica and baked clay, semi-precious stones and onyx.
About the company:
Italian family-run company Sigma L2 was established in the 1960s, founded by Paolo Granchi (son of the famous 1930s Florentine sculptor Delio Granchi). Today Paolo's legacy is carried on by his children, Simone and Francesca, who have set up their own design studio to design the brand's models. The factory produces floor, table and pendant lamps, upholstered furniture, tables, mirrors, vases, sculptures and many other household goods. The Sigma L2 range also includes collections of luminaires for the contract sector. Styles are classic and modern.
The Sigma L2 catalogue is admired by architects and interior design practitioners worldwide.
The company also takes orders for manufacture of interior fixtures according to individual sizes or projects.
In Belarus, accessories and lighting fixtures of Sigma L2 brand are presented in the showroom New Studio at Nemiga, 12 in Minsk.
