The Assemblage coffee table from designer Alain Gilles (Belgium) has been designed for the Italian furniture factory Bonaldo.
The designer has deliberately turned the materials upside down: lightweight cork has become the base of the table and now looks imposing and massive, while the visually light table top is actually dense wood.
According to Alain Gilles, the exclusive design is nothing less than an artistic interpretation of a child's pyramid, with the rings strung on a single base. By design, each such pyramid-table can and should be assembled in a new way. The base made of cork and the top made of solid wood are meant to break the mould of modern furniture geometry, in particular the stereotype that the lower part of furniture has to be bulky.
The Assemblage coffee table by Bonaldo is an impressive sculptural look, a unique design solution and a harmonious combination of neutral colours. The original piece of furniture will be appreciated by those who prefer to create accent zones in a room by means of single items.
