Authentic Living by Karim Rashid
Aug 7, 2017
At this year's Salone del Mobile exhibition in Milan, an unusual furniture collection called Authentic Living was presented. It was born out of an unexpected collaboration between the Italian furniture factory Riva1920 and the luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini. And the conduit between the two leading brands was the world-renowned designer Karim Rashid, inspired by the idea of uniting the two worlds.
As a result of the collaboration between the two leading brands, the range of furniture pieces from the Lamborghini collection has grown to over two million pieces.
The pieces in the collection include the Klip table with its asymmetric, trunk-like base; the leather-clad Klutch chair in '70s style; the asymmetric walnut Finesse shelving unit; the Klip desk and the Dynamik sofa with its wooden frame and shelf running the entire perimeter (unique seat and back-support cushions feature visible seams).
All the furniture is characterised by the dynamic design that is typical of legendary Lamborghini sports cars and is made of solid wood, the traditional Riva1920 material.
Each furniture piece is characterised by its curved and stylish shape, fine finishing and quality of natural materials (such as solid walnut and black leather). The collection's eco-friendliness is also worth mentioning: the wood's surface has been treated with oil and natural pine extract wax.
The symbiosis of natural materials and modern production technology has produced an excellent result, and the design of the new collection from Karim Rashid is definitely authentic and unique.
Riva 1920 shares the values of Lamborghini's philosophy: design, innovation, advanced technology, emotion, attention to detail and the best of heritage.
New Studio is a partner of the Italian factory Riva 1920 in Belarus.
