The Italian furniture factory B&B Italia is expanding its global presence and opening a new showroom in Jakarta. On display are cutting-edge, trend-setting products, and so we are delighted to show you the new showroom.
The history of the company began in 1966 with an ambitious young Piero Bussnelli. The founder of what is now a large holding company began his journey at Cassina, a company which was already well known at the time. The desire to create an innovative product led him to the idea of using polyurethane foam in the production of upholstered furniture. It was a little-known material at the time, not much used in the industry. As a result, the young entrepreneur's ideas were not taken seriously. Piero's persistence led him to the heads of large banks who believed in the courageous idea and risked to support it financially. Thanks to the tandem, the Busnelli and Bankers company was born, the acronym subsequently shortened to the well-known B&B Italia.
This innovation was a real breakthrough in furniture production. As well as perfecting the shapes, the manufacturing process also changed. The replacement of the manual work used at that time in all factories by an industrial production method became a reality. In 1966, innovations pioneered by B&B Italia represented a real breakthrough in the furniture industry. One of the company's innovations was the modular sofa, which won recognition in 1986. Innovation and collaboration with creative designers to this day are fundamental to the production of the factory. Thanks to this, the developments and products of the brand are always ahead of the competition.
Today, the factory designs and manufactures furniture for homes and businesses (shops, liners, hotels). The product range includes different variants of upholstered furniture, beds, cabinet furniture and accessories that will decorate bedroom, living room or study. The collections produced by the factory include not only interior, but also exterior furniture.
The list of designers who have collaborated with the famous Italian manufactory is huge. It includes big names: Antonio Citterio, Patricia Urquiola, Jeffrey Bernett, Vincent Van Duysen, Mario Bellini, Zaha Hadid, James Irvine, Gaetano Pesce, Richard Sapper, Vico Magistretti and many others.
