Désirée: Warm and atmospheric environment

The heart of this house consists of a void that cuts the building in height and runs through all the floors, forming a kind of bath from which to enjoy the architectural and design finds. Architects Francesco Fedele and Mariangela Filomani have relied on a combination of different textures and materials: glass, raw iron and local olive wood. The latter is rarely used in interiors due to its pronounced veining and vibrant colour. However, this is what gives the setting we're considering an artisanal warmth and a touch of uniqueness. The focal point of the living room, the two-level staircase, is made of olive wood and looks incredibly striking.
The kitchen is also unusual, and is divided into two areas: the dining area faces an external veranda, from which it is separated by a sliding glass partition.
The open plan living room is designed for the family to relax together. Opposite the fireplace is the Freemood modular sofa, which was designed for the Italian manufacturer Désirée by Edoardo Gerardi. The collection is characterised by its flexibility and freedom of movement. It is a system of padded floor units which are complemented by movable backrests, corners, poufs and armrests of different widths. The backrests can be moved easily to provide maximum comfort for the person sitting. The upholstery is fully removable and made of genuine leather.
