Pantone Colour Institute announces the colours of 2021

The Pantone Colour Institute has named the two main colours of 2021 at once: Illuminating and Ultimate Gray. According to Pantone, yellow is "warming and optimistic" and grey is "practical and solid". This combination best expresses the mood of 2021, highlighting how disparate elements can come together to support each other.
"PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow, sparkling with vibrancy, a warming yellow hue bursting with sunny energy. PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray symbolizes strong and reliable elements that are timeless and provide a solid foundation," the institute explained.
The combination of grey and yellow was described by Pantone as "inspiring and hopeful".
Recall that in 2020, the colour of the year was 'classic blue'. According to the Pantone website, 2021 will be the first year in 20 years when two colours have been chosen at once.
