Inspiration of the week: Cassina in an Italian loft interior
Jan 26, 2018
Sometimes it happens that everything in your life changes and takes on a new value, as was the case with this house, which has been completely transformed after the renovation. The project was carried out for a young family living in the city of Bergamo in northern Italy.
As you know, the city is divided into two parts, which could not be more different. At the bottom of the hill is the modern and vibrant commercial heart, while upstairs is the old town with its beautiful squares, splendid Renaissance monuments and ancient city gates. Our heroes' house is on the main road that leads to the upper town (italian: Città Alta), with a five-kilometre-long medieval wall and expressive bell towers and turrets opposite.
The conversion transformed an ordinary flat into a mansard with solid glazing and a large roof terrace, and hence a mesmerising view of the surroundings.
This was a complex project, if only because the building is characterised by its triangular shape with a central staircase and the need for a lift in the house. The answer was a free space between the bedroom and living room, but the main redesign still consisted of replacing the small windows with solid glazing.
The kitchen was custom made in an Italian factory, and the island is covered in the trendy Fenix material. The minimalistic white cabinets completely dissolve against the walls and make the interior even more harmonious and comfortable.
A key player in the living room is the Mex sofa, designed for the Italian factory Cassina by the renowned Piero Lissoni for cassina. The same factory also produced the Chaise Longue LC4 lounger and the Mex C bed model in the bedroom.
The floor lamp Lamp Taccia by Flos is also worth a look. The authors of the project have made every effort to ensure that the project is modern in style, but at the same time emotionally evocative.
