Versace: haute couture interior

Oct 31, 2021

With the relaunch of the Milan boutique, the Versace brand presents a new collection for the home. The interior line is born from a collaboration between Donatella Versace and the design duo Roberto and Ludovica Palomba. Combining fashion, luxury and design, they offer an original reading of the Versace world and a new deciphering of the brand's style codes.

"I am an extremely curious person and take every opportunity to learn something new," comments Donatella Versace. - When I started working with Ludovica and Roberto, I was fascinated by their incredible knowledge of the design world and the ideas they gave me. Their ability to combine iconic Versace codes with clean, clean lines is truly incredible. I love the way they use colours and respect the brand by interpreting it in a modern way."

During Milan Fashion Week the Versace flagship showroom was transformed into a veritable welcoming home. Inside is the entire world of "Medusa": mythology, symbolism, classical art, non-conformism and rigorous geometric lines. La Greca's famous Greek ornamentation has been modernised and forms the opto-geometric pattern so beloved in Milan.

One of the primary goals, according to Ludovica Palomba, was to create timeless objects. Fashion brands work with seasonal collections and can change everything from year to year. In interior design, this is not possible. Therefore the craftsmen created objects with a longer history, envisaging a change in appearance through colourful removable coverings.

Taking the history of the brand as their starting point, the designers make gold the main motif of the display. In Roberto and Ludovica's deft hands, leather is combined with silk, luxurious metals rub shoulders with marble, the cool shimmer of which contrasts with the warmth of the prints.

Fashion reveals itself in the details. This is why the interior line features costume details: gold zips on the Venus chair; the legs of the sideboard and cupboard, inspired by the high heels of models; the new leather Signature sofa, inspired by Versace bags for women. The tone-on-tone engraving, silkscreening, textile treatments and pleating make the furnishings vibrant and individual.
