Kartell&Illustri charity project

Nov 30, 2021

Famous Italian names have joined forces in a charity project in support of the Ambrosian refectory in Milan. Kartell furniture is decorated and interpreted by the best illustrators and emerging talents of the Illustri association (the number one name in Italian illustration) and then displayed in Milan's Smeraldo shop in Eataly.

The illustrators, each in their own style, decorated a number of iconic products such as Philippe Starck's Uncle Jim chair (winner of the Red Dot Design Award in 2016); Ferruccio Laviani's Big FL/Y lamp; Anna Castelli Ferrieri's Componibili container; Piero Lissoni's Piuma chair (winner of the Red Dot Award in 2017). The event culminated in a charity auction held by CharityStars, where lucky winners were able to take possession of exclusive pieces.

Proceeds from the auction went to the Ambrosiana refectory in Milan, a place where solidarity and art meet in the belief that all forms of beauty help develop deep personal dignity. Here underprivileged people are served quality food prepared from donated surplus food.

Kartell began supporting the initiative back in 2015, when chairs were donated for the grand opening of the refectory.
